Dear Howley families,

I just couldn’t let this week pass without writing to thank you all for your support this term. It may have only been a short term, but that hasn’t stopped us accomplishing many things.  Your children have been absolutely fantastic, as has the staff team, with everyone working together to achieve the very best for our children and community.

In true Howley spirit and despite us experiencing four seasons in one day weather wise, Wednesday’s Easter Bonnet Parade still went ahead and I’m so glad it did. The vast array of bonnets was simply amazing. The children wore them with such pride and sang their hearts out! Thank you to those of you who attended for working with us on the last-minute adjustments needed to ensure the parade could still happen.

I have to say the egg competition entries were fabulous too. I don’t wish to add any pressure for 2027, but this year has seen our first mechanical entry, along with many other great ideas. It has been lovely to see all our children enjoying looking at the creations as they journey to and from the hall. Thank you to everyone who helped to make bonnets and competition entries- you all did an amazing job!

The PTA rainbow hampers have now all been collected. Congratulations to the lucky winners. I must say that thanks to our families’ kind donations, they were a very tempting sight just outside my office. Once again, the hard work of our PTA has helped raise much needed money for our school- thank you all so much.

Following a term of hard work, excellent progress, smiles and laughter, I would like to wish our staff team, families, PTA, Governors and of course, our brilliant children, a well-deserved happy, fun-filled Easter break.

See you all on Monday 13th April ready for a fantastic summer term.

Best wishes,

Miss Lewis

Reading Around Howley

Accelerated Reader

So far this year, we have read an amazing 1 million words more than we did this time in 2025!!  This is fantastic!!

If your child is on our Accelerated Reader scheme and they quiz online at school, they will be able to continue to quiz during the Easter holidays each day between 7am and 9pm.

The school’s unique URL is:

https://global-zone61.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/6702136

and your child will need their log on name and password to access their account (these should be on a sticker in their Reading Records). Sometimes the children lock themselves out of their account after three unsuccessful attempts so this will be monitored as often as possible during the break.

If you are unsure of whether a book has an Accelerated Reader quiz, you can check for free at https://www.arbookfind.co.uk/. Simply type in the title of the book and it will let you know if it is an Accelerated Reader book and its book level (B.L.).

Easter at our local libraries

Libraries across Dudley – including Long Lane and Halesowen - are offering free family-friendly activities for children of all ages during the Easter school holidays.

There is the promise of lots of fun, with Easter LEGO challenges, bunny crafts, wooden windmill makes, Easter chick mask‑making, story sessions, board games and bookable LEGO Spike coding activities. Find information at  https://www.better.org.uk/library/dudley/events-and-activities

Comic Relief

Thank you for supporting our fund-raising for Comic Relief.  We raised £408.60 for this very worthy charity.

PTA Uniform Sale

The Uniform Team have been busy having a huge spring clean - the sort where they opened the cupboard door and felt like they'd found Narnia. We have an ever increasing amount of pre loved uniform which is desperate for a new home, so we're changing the way it's being sold.

After Easter, we're running a pre-loved uniform event (details are in the flyer below) where you can stock up, size up or simply grab some spares. This is how it'll work: simply bring a bag and fill it with as much or as little as you need. Make a donation (both cash and card accepted) and help raise funds for school.

Please note that this event will be outdoors so will be weather permitting.

Lost Property

Please check the picture below in case any of the items belong to your child.  Our un-named lost property drawers are full again so after Easter, we will be donating any unclaimed items to either the PTA uniform sale or to a charity shop.  Please do come and check for any items your child might have lost.
